What is the best way to get in touch with Mrs. Quackenbush?

Your child has a folder that will go home everyday.

I check it every morning. You may write me a note and place it in the folder.

I also check my email and phone messages throughout the day.

I will respond as soon as possible.

Where do I drop off/pick up my child?

Oak Street "Kiss and Drop" is the street you turn down to turn into the school parking lot.

It is literally a "Kiss and Drop", so your child exits the car and goes directly on line to enter the school.

If you would like, you may park on Oak Street and walk your child on line as well.

The children will exit school at 2:30 through the Oak Street exit, right by our classroom.

You can park on Oak Street or surrounding streets to pick up your child at this time.

Does my child need a backpack/school supplies?

Your child should bring a backpack labeled with their first

and last name to school each day. Make sure the bag is big enough for folders and

books and can be easily opened. Try to avoid purchasing backpacks

with wheels, as they are difficult to fit in the cubbies in our

classroom.

The school provides your children with all the supplies they need

for the beginning of the year. If other supplies are needed

throughout the year, I will send a note home or post them on my

webpage.

Can my child bring a drink/snack to school?

We have a "snack time" mid-morning.  Please send in a healthy snack that your child enjoys

that can be easily eaten in a 10 minute time frame.

It may be a good idea to label the snack and sealed drink that your child is to eat during this time.

A helpful idea may be to have 2 bags inside of their lunch "sack" one labeled "snack"

and one "lunch".   If this is not a feasible option, please inform your

child what their snack/lunch is for the day.

How should I send in lunch/snack money (purchased in the cafeteria during lunch time)?

Lunch money should be placed in a sealed and labeled envelope

(child's name, grade, purpose of money). You can purchase a lunch ticket for up to a month.

The ticket will only be used when your child buys lunch.

Snack money is separate and must be carried by the child each day if he/she choses to buy snack.

Lunch for grades K-2 takes place in the cafeteria from 12:25-12:50.

Recess (12:55-1:07)-weather permitting-is outside on the kindergarten playground.

When is my child allowed to use the restroom?

There is a restroom located in the classroom.

The children will be allowed to go as needed.

We do review proper bathroom manners.

Please review these at home as well.

*It would be a good idea to send in an extra set of clothes "just in case". Please put these

in a bag labeled with your child's name. The bag will be stored in your child's cubby and used

when and if necessary*

What do I do if I want my child to leave the school in a different manner than usual (bus, aftercare, walkers)?

The school needs to receive a note written to the teacher explaining how and with

whom your child should leave with. If you forget to write a note, a call to the main office will

also be acceptable. Your child will not be able to alter their leaving format without a note or a

phone call.

Does my child have a rest time?

We have a "rest and read" period before lunch during the first month of school.

This is usually for about 10 minutes a day.

You do not need to buy an actual rest mat.

A towel works very well and is easy to use.

Please label either or with your child's first and last name.

What about birthdays and birthday celebrations?

"Goodie bags" are also not to be sent in since our time is limited for the celebration.

Invitations to birthday parties can be distributed if all students (or all boys or all girls) in the class are invited.

Summer birthdays can either be celebrated on the child's half-birthday or at the end of the year.

Please let me know what you and your child would prefer.

What do I do if our family is going on vacation during school time?

If you have a trip planned during the school year, please send me in a note informing me of the

dates your child will be absent. If given enough time, I will provide your child with some

of the work s/he might miss. However, most of the work will be saved and given to your child

when they return to school.
