SPANISH 3

SEMESTER 2

Your grade:

  1. Your grade will be mostly based on your participation and classwork.
  2. You will have listening, written, spoken, and reading assignments.
  3. Your written classwork will be graded, and you will have one more week to do corrections to improve your grade after the due date.
  4. When doing corrections, don't forget to explain why your answer was wrong. Don't erase the previous answer, scratch it and write the new answer next to it.
  5. If you don't know how to correct a mistake, you can always ask your teacher or classmates.
  6. If the work is turned in late without a valid excuse, the student will not be allowed to make corrections.
  7. After a week, the classwork will not be accepted, and the student will receive a zero.

Classwork

  1.  Use you time wisely, so you can do most of it in class.
  2. You must do ALL the classwork provided to receive more classwork.
  3. This is your grade!

Homework

  1. Your homework will mostly be to finish the assignments you didn't have time to do in class.
  2. Using Google or AI is prohibited, and if the teacher realizes Google or AI  were used, the student will get a zero on the assignment.
  3. Homework is important and necessary in Spanish 3 because it will help you keep practicing Spanish outside the classroom.

Vocabulary Tests and Quizzes

  1. You will probable have only  one or two vocabulary tests or quizzes during the whole semester.
  2. You will know what to study ahead of time.

Learning a language requires a lot of practice and dedication. Since you are in this class by choice, I recommend you to:

Think in Spanish outside the class when doing any activity.

  1. Memorize new verbs and idioms in Spanish, try to broaden your vocabulary.
  2. Listen to music, videos, shorts, or TV in Spanish, so you get used to the language.
  3. Learn songs in Spanish and sing along to improve your fluency.
  4. Read news in Spanish
  5. Do homework, or the extra practice provided.
  6. Don't be afraid to make mistakes or to talk to native speakers. They will understand Spanish is not your first language and will try to help you.

Passing the CLEP test

  1. Passing the CLEP test will give you TWO semesters of college credit.
  2. You only need 50 POINTS to pass this test.
  3. This is a multiple choice test.
  4. You will practice in class. However, to pass the listening portion of the test, you need to improve your listening comprehension skills by listening to native speakers (Youtube, shorts, reels, podcasts, etc)

The importance of knowing and using the grammar correctly:

  1. Knowing the all verb tenses, the subjunctive mood, and when to use them, will help you speak correctly and be understood when you speak.
  2. We will practice more complex estructures in Spanish 3 and use them in class.

Grammar: The verb TO GET in Spanish

Most people learning Spanish encounter a lot of trouble when it comes to the word "get" in English. That's because there's actually no direct translation for that little word in Spanish, instead we have to use a variety of substitutes to get around it.

In this lesson I'll show you one of the simplest, yet most powerful ways of doing exactly that. It's something you can add into your vocabulary right away and will instantly make your Spanish sound much more natural.

1. Estudia las páginas 1 - 2  para ver entender este verbo en español

2. Mira estos videos y responde las página 3 y 4 según los videos.
