Our objective is to conjugate in the present tense and differentiante between the verbs SER and Estar or WL.7.1.NH.A.8 - [Cumulative Progress Indicator] - Identify some unique linguistic elements in English and the target language.

Last week we focused on accents. I wanted to remind you that adding or forgetting an accent can change the meaning of a word completely

Since we are working with Estar here is a great example:

Esta (no accent)  is a demonstrative adjective meaning this, and it appears before the noun it modified.

Example:  Esta camisa es roja (This shirt is red)

Ésta (accent on first E) is a demonstrative pronoun meaning this or this one, and it takes the place of whatever noun it referred to.

Example: Ésta es roja (This one is red)

. Está (accent on the last A) is the third person singular form of the verb estar, which means to be. He / she/ it is...

Example: Ella Ésta en la clase de arte. (She is in the art classroom)

Activity 1: Write 1 sentences using each of these examples of "ESTA" if you cannot write an accent on a keyboard highlight or capitolaize the letter thayt the accent should fall on.
