  • This week’s spelling words focus on the /ou/ sound which can be  spelled with 2 vowel teams ‘ou’ and ‘ow’

  • Can anyone email me where the vowel team ‘ou’ is found in words - beginning, middle, or end? What about the vowel team ‘ow’?

  • What do you think is special about ‘ow’?

    • Click on Student Edition: Grade 2

    • Go to the Table of Contents on top left corner

    • Click on Topic 12 and then Lesson 12-7

  • Next click on “Listen and Read - On Level” on the left for the issue and read the article “Beach of Glass”

 Using the information from the article you just read, complete an opinion writing for the following prompt:

 

“Should people be allowed to take sea glass?”

 

 

 

  • State your opinion in your introduction. Use starters like “ In my opinion,” “I believe”, “I think”, “I feel”

  • Next support your opinion with at least 2-3 reasons (clues from the article)

  • Finally write your conclusion.

You may need to watch more than once before starting the questions.  This ties in with close reading. Sometimes we have to read or view something more than once to help us find the answers!  Then answer the listed questions.  Make sure you also include what evidence from the video helped you answer the question.

 

  1.  Why is one of the space creatures writing on a clipboard?

  2. Why is the human floating through the air in all different directions?

  3. Why is the smaller space creature yelling?

  4. Does the space creature have a lot of experience lifting humans out of their home?  How can you tell?

  5. Why does the larger space creature put the house back in order?
