Reading - Today we are starting a lesson on close reading.  Please copy and paste the link into your browser: https://youtu.be/L8dXWRY5rPk and watch as I read you the first part of this week’s story, The Wednesday Surprise.  Then answer the following questions in complete sentences on a piece of paper.  I will go over the answers with you tomorrow. Remember, you can rewatch the video and pause on a page when you find the answer! :)

  1. Why does Grandma have to ride the bus across town on Wednesdays?

  2. How does Anna feel about Grandma coming? How do you know? Use the author’s clues!

  3. What is Anna and Grandma’s joke?

  4. Why does grandma raise her eyebrows when she asks “His birthday?”

  5. What does it mean when it says “Then we get down to business.”?

  • Next support your opinion with at least 3 reasons (clues from the story)

  • Finally write your conclusion.
