Gallavanting in the Galapagos Sahara Desert July, 2023
Hi! I am Mrs. Nicole Means, and I serve as the WFHS Instructional Specialist, and the AP Human Geography instructor. I have worked at West Feliciana High since 2001 where I have taught a variety of social studies courses, but my true passion lies in the field of geography! I have taught Advanced Placement Human Geography for 8 years and constantly strive to improve my practice. In fact, each summer, at the annual AP Reading, I gather with other APHG teachers from around the nation, and this professional network has been instrumental in me better supporting my students.
I was born in Chatham, Ontario (Canada) and moved to Monroe, Louisiana when I was a seven years old. I have four siblings, one of which who lives in Quebec, and another who lives in New Haven, Connecticut (right down the street from Yale University). My two younger siblings live in Denver, Colorado. I have lived throughout Louisiana and made St. Francisville my permanent home in 2000. Prior to that I lived in Shreveport for 4 years while I was working on my Bachelor's Degree from Centenary College, and, then, I moved to New Orleans to pursue my Master's in Secondary Education from Loyola University. After finishing my formal education, I moved to St. Francisville, married my husband, Jesse, and now how two children, Jesse and Cecile, both at WFMS.
When I am not in St. Francisville, I am exploring our vast country and world. I have been to every continent except Antarctica and am always looking for a new adventure! I am so excited about sharing my passion for geography with my current and future students!
