Go to website and search the collections. Choose an area of focus and interest (Literature, Family, Music) or browse by topic, date, name, object type, or place. You can also search the collections if you know the specific piece of collection you want to analyze. 

Once you find your collections piece, click on the title and research background of the piece. Take notes or print out the piece to add to your knowledge. Connect the piece to the literature, history, art, culture, human truths, and themes we have learned in class; furthermore, try to develop your piece's significance to African American culture and history.
