Preschool Pumpkin Book Report
Home-School Family Literacy Activity
Dear Parents: It’s October and that means pumpkins are everywhere!
Let’s take this harvest theme and bring lots of fun and creativity to connect it to literacy. Let’s start reading!
We are asking you to complete this really different book
report together, as a family!
Select a book and read it together.
• Focus your discussion on the characters in the story.
• Pick one character and create them on the plastic or foam pumpkin
• Decorate it, paint it, glue things to it, and just get creative!
(If you decide to ude a real pumpkin, Please don’t carve it though, since it will be displayed inside our room.)
Once completed, display your pumpkins outside and please take a close up picture of your child with character and book too. Thank you!
Here are some samples:
Don’t have a book, not a problem! I can share links to many digital and virtual sites. I can also arrange for you to pick up a book at school, if you need.
