A quick note about EXTRA CREDIT - Extra credit will not make up for not completing your regular classwork! Please note that I can only offer extra credit when it is attached to a particular assignment. Extra credit is sometimes offfered in class and is always available to ALL students. Extra credit must be offered to all students and can only account for 5% of the overall assignment grade in accordance with district policy (see page 6 for specifics).
Want to Improve Your Grade? Start Here:
1. Check Your Work
-
Have you turned in all of your assignments?
-
Students who complete their work don’t fail my class.
-
Late work loses 10% per day and is accepted up to 5 days late. After 5 days, it gets no credit.
-
If the answers were already shared in class, the work can’t be turned in late.

2. Show Up and Stay Engaged
-
Come to class on time and stay the whole period.
-
Don’t ask to leave as soon as you arrive unless it’s urgent.
-
Ask questions if you don’t understand something.
-
You can attend office hours, but only if you’ve completed all assignments first. It’s not a makeup session for missing work.
3. Use Class Time Wisely
-
Stay focused. Don’t waste time chatting—unless it’s about the assignment.
4. Follow Directions
-
Read all instructions carefully—and re-read if needed.
-
Make sure you answer everything completely and correctly.
5. Learn from Mistakes
-
Review your quizzes, tests, and homework to see what you missed.
-
Still need help? You can go to:
- The Opportunity Room,
- schedule a Pear Deck tutoring session or
- After-school Science Academy for extra help, if you are still having difficulty.
- *My extra help is only available to students who have completed all of their work
6. Get Organized
- Plan your time and set up a regular routine for homework and studying. Work in a quiet place without distractions.
7. Study Smart
- Don’t cram—study a little each day.
-
Switch up your study methods: -
One day: write definitions
-
Next day: flashcards
-
Another day: quiz a friend, review notes, or rewatch class videos

-
-
If a practice quiz is posted, take it until you get every question right.

8. Prioritize Sleep
- Aim for 9–12 hours of sleep each night.
- Turn off electronics at least 2 hours before bed—blue light from screens can make it harder to fall asleep.
