Tips for Middle School Parents

Stay Informed:

  1. Visit the Sayreville Middle School website to stay updated.

  2. Get your Parent Portal login and check it at least once a week to avoid surprises with grades.

  3. Don’t hesitate to email teachers or staff with questions—we’re here to help!

Support Academic Success:

  1. Help your child build time management skills.

  2. Create a study and homework routine together.

  3. Encourage your child to work independently, but offer support to build their confidence.

  4. If your child struggles, stay positive and remind them to keep trying.

  5. Talk daily and listen to their concerns.

  6. Teach your child to be their own advocate by speaking to teachers directly when needed.

  7. Start strong—help your child adjust early in the school year.

Promote Independence and Responsibility:

  1. Our goal is for students to make good decisions and manage themselves.

  2. Each night, have them prepare for the next day: homework, activities, lunch, clothes, etc.

  3. Talk about what makes a good friend—kindness, honesty, and good choices.
