Homework/Classwork: Reading assignments will be given each night and are expected to be completed prior to coming to class each day. Active participation in class is critical to increasing student understanding of the concepts we will be covering. Each lesson will feature a Do Now activity and a classwork assignment. Any work on these assignments that is not completed in class is to be completed for homework. Online assignments will be posted with their grading policies included. Please refer to the grading policy for each assignment. Students may request a deadline extension or to repeat an assignment for a higher grade up to four times per marking period for each marking period. All requests for a deadline extension or a repeat assignment must be made via email. (Worth 20% of the grade)
Tests: Tests will be administered at the end of each chapter. Students will be given at least one week advance notice of tests (verbal or online). (Worth 40% of the grade)
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given throughout each marking period. In addition, from time to time written work showing how homework problems were solved may also be collected and counted as a quiz. For announced quizzes, at least two days’ notice will be provided (verbal or online). (Worth 25% of the grade)
Simulations: Computer simulations related to various topics will also be assigned for a variety of topics. (Worth 15% of the grade)
Make-up Policy:
If a student is absent from class for any reason, it is expected that the student will obtain any missing work from the teacher and/or friends in class and/or make up any missed tests and/or quizzes. Any missing work must be made up within two weeks. (NOTE: School policy dictates that work missed because a student cut class cannot be made up and will receive an automatic grade of zero.) It is the student's responsibility to follow this policy and make any necessary arrangements. Any work that is not made up will receive a grade of zero.
