Over the course of the coming school year, in addition to studying chemistry concepts in the classroom, we will be working together to apply what we have learned in the classroom to successfully carry out experiments in the laboratory. Working in the laboratory is a rewarding experience. However, it is also a great responsibility. We will be reviewing the safety rules that will be followed at all times in the chemistry laboratory shortly after the start of the school year. Students will be expected to complete an assignment related to lab safety. Each student must also bring home a copy of the safety contract. Parents are encouraged to review the safety contract with their student. The lab safety assignment and a copy of the safety contract, signed by both the student and a parent or guardian, must be returned before a student can participate in lab activities for the course. Please note that safety violations will result in a decreased grade on laboratory assignments.
