The Elements of Art are the visual tools people use to create art.  The seven elements are line, shape, color, value, form, space, and texture.

1) Line: A mark that has a beginning and end and can take many different forms along the way.  Below is a chart of all the differnt lines you can make!

2) Shape: A two dimmensional, enclosed space.  Shapes can be geometric (like square, triangle, circle, etc) or organic.  Below are some examples of each kind of shape.

3) Color: produced when light, striking an object, is reflected back to the eye.  The three primary colors are the base for every other color.  The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue.  The secondary colors are made by mixing the primary colors.

RedYellow= Orange

YellowBlue = Green

Blue + Red = Purple

The Warm Colors are Red YellowOrange and the Cool Colors are Blue GreenPurple.

Complementary Colors are the primary and secondary colors directly across from each other on the color wheel.

Below is a full color wheel, the primary colors, and the secondary colors.

 4) Value: The lightness or darkness of a color.  Below is a value chart in black and white.

5)Form: A three-dimensional geometric figure.  Spheres, cubes, cylinders, and cones are said to have form, to name a few.  Below is an example of a 3-D form.

6)Space: The distance/areas around, between, or within objects in an artwork.  Below is a chart explaining the different kinds of space in an artwork.

7)Texture: describes either the way a three-dimensional work actually feels when touched, or the visual "feel" of a two-dimensional work.  Below are examples of images that have visual texture.

Each of these elements have and will always play a huge role in making any work of art.
