LOM Beta Club Information:

Beta Club Information 2019-2020




To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.



ACHIEVEMENT - Recognizing and honoring high academic achievement

Students are eligible to join LOM's chapter of the National Beta Club if they have no Cs on their first nine weeks report card.  Cost to join: $30 (includes National Beta dues and club t-shirt)- due November 1, 2019.

Beta is a service organization, and there will be a variety of school and community activities that students can participate in to earn service points.  Students earning enough service points will be invited to attend a field tirp.

LOM Jr. Beta Club By-Laws 2019-2020

  1. This chapter of the Junior Beta Club will meet once a month. 

  1. Students in grades 5 and 6 who meet the criteria will be allowed to join. 

  1. Beta Club dues shall be $30 per year, which includes National Beta dues and club t-shirt. 

  1. Students must maintain an A/B honor roll report card for two consecutive nine weeks prior to induction into BETA. 

  1. Students MUST show their report cards to a BETA sponsor every nine weeks within 3 days of reception.  Failure to do so will place you on probation for the following nine weeks.   

  1. Any Cs on a report card will result in probation for that nine weeks.  If the student then makes a C on the next report card, that will result in the member being dropped from the club.  A member will automatically be dropped from the club if a D or F is earned on any report card. 

  1. A member may be dropped from the club or put on probation for disciplinary reasons (detentions, suspensions, etc.)  The sponsors will meet to hear the case.  Their decision is final. 

  1. The club officers shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Reporter, Photographer, Chaplain. 

  1. Members will earn service points for participating in Beta activities throughout the year.  Members must earn 40 points to attend the field trip at the end of the year.   


Examples of Points Earned for Various Activities:

  • 1 point- attending and signing in at monthly Beta meeting  

  • 1 point- wearing BETA club shirt to club meetings 

  • 5 points- bringing teacher snacks (designated days) 

  • 8 points- bringing teacher breakfast items (designated days) 
  • 1 point per item- bringing items for various club-approved drives  (ex: food drive) (up to 10 points per event) 

  • 10 points- Singing Christmas Carols at the Nursing Home 

  • 10 points- Making wreath for nursing home
  • 10 points- Christmas shopping for needy
  • 1 point per dollar (up to 20)- donations for Christmas gifts for needy
  • 5 points per week- Collecting items for Beta-sponsored drives 

  • 5 points per week- Raising and lowering the flag.

  • points- Making posters advertising Beta-sponsored activities 

These are just examples—there will be other activities during the school year that you can earn service points for participating in.  We will tell you the point value as they occur.  If you have an idea for a service project, please tell one of the officers or sponsors.  Service points may also be given for individual volunteer activities at the sponsors' discretion.
