Welcome to 1C!

  • Students should be in the classroom by 7:40am.

  • Grading: Graded papers will be sent home in your student’s yellow folder every Friday. The insert will need to be signed and returned in the envelope the next school day. All papers should be returned to school with a signature as well. With standards-based report cards, we are focused on meeting the grade level expectation (and more!) for each 1st grade standard.

    Grading Key:

    M = Meets grade-level expectation

    P = Progressing toward grade-level expectation

    N = Not meeting the grade-level expectation

    These grades are fluid and may change via quarter as grade-level expectations increase.

  • Homework: Homework will be assigned nightly Monday - Thursday. Homework is listed on the calendarand written in your student's planner. Please be sure your child is reading at least 10 minutes a night (a bedtime story is perfect!). All homework must be reviewed and initialed by a parent.

  • Absences: In case of sickness, students have the same amount of days absent to complete make-up work (example: absent 3 days, have 3 days to complete make-up work). If you have a planned vacation, I will do my best to send home work prior for you to complete (if ample time is provided to me).

  • Folders: Your student will have multiple labeled folders to help create organization for their different papers.Their red folder will be for homework. There is a return to school side and a leave at home side. Please make sure the leave at home side is emptied every night. Yellow folders are their test folder.

  • Communication: The best way to get in touch with me is email or the TEAMS app. You can also send in a note with your child or jot it down in their planner (which I check every day). If the matter is urgent, please call the office to have them get in touch with me ASAP. My school email is [email protected]. A weekly newsletter will be sent to your TEAMS describing what we will be learning.

  • Birthdays: Celebrated in class with peers! No food can be given out, shared, or in take home goody bags. If you would like me to distribute invitations, all class members must be included. The birthday child may dress down for their birthday and are excused from homework that night. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in May.

  • Holiday celebrations: If you are sending in a goody bag for any reason, it must not contain any food or candy. Please avoid labeling goody bags with student names as it makes them harder to hand out.
