Sight Words and Trick Words
Sight words require consistent practice. These words often need to be memorized by sight since they don’t follow regular spelling patterns and can’t be easily sounded out using phonetic techniques.
We introduce a Decodable Reader each week. Please save and use your Decodable Reader to practice reading your sight words.
When your child masters these words, it helps them recognize the words more quickly and enhances their reading fluency, allowing them to read more smoothly and quickly.
Throughout the year, we’ll work with various word lists, and using repetition games for high-frequency words keeps the learning process both fun and effective.
Two fun games to parctice with your child are Bingo, Memory and Go Fish!
