*Update: Lucky lives at my home now. In his old age, the excitement of a classroom can be too much for him. However, the story of Lucky is still important to the community of respect and tolerance that we build in our classroom.
The Lucky Hamster
On the morning of Friday, September 27, 2013 I found a live hamster with a cage near the trash cans a few blocks away from West New York Middle School.
As an animal-lover, I could not leave this creature to perish in the streets. My original plan was to donate the hamster to a pet store, but the students instantly fell in love with the animal. Since then, I have taken the animal to see a doctor, to ensure he is safe for the students to be around.
Therefore, I want to announce the newest member of our classroom, Lucky, the hamster.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have.
