Let's Communicate for Success
Parent/Guardian communication is an important part of every teacher's strategy for success in today's classrooms. I incorporate various means of communication to reach out to both students and parents/guardians; Remind App, Google Classroom, phone calls/text messages, email messages, and newsletters/letters through regular mail.
Phone Calls/Text Messages
Remind is my preferred means of contact. At the beginning of the school year, I ask students to provide me with their contact information (phone and email) in addition to the parent/guardian contact information. I also provide my work and cell phone, along with my email address, to the students and parents. The students have permission to contact me via email or phone (call/text) for homework help. I email/text students and/or parents with assignments, questions regarding assignments, or to discuss missing work/absences.
Phone Call/Text Log
All Individual Parent/Guardian contact calls or text messages are not necessarily logged here; for privacy purposes, some parent/guardian contact calls/texts may be logged in OnCourse under the Disciplinary Action tab.
OnCourse
I send email messages to both parent/guardians and students from the OnCourse system and/or via the Google Education Suite, in addition to the Remind App. If you are not receiving email messages or text messages from me, please verify that we have the correct email address and cell phone number(s) on file (OnCourse) for you.
US Post Mail
Periodically, I will send letters home to the Parent/Guardian's of my students. The letters are typically regarding topics of importance to you and your student that you may want to keep a printed copy of for later reference. If you have not received at least one letter from me yet this school year please verify your address information that we have on file (OnCourse) for you.
Knowledge is power! Students need to know and stay abreast of what we are working on in class, their current academic status, attendance, and/or discipline referrals. Parents/Guardians need to know how the students are performing academically well in advance of report cards so that there is time to complete missing assignments or to address behavioral issues. OnCourse and Google Classroom puts the power in your hands. Stay informed :-)
