CLASS PARTICIPATION RUBRIC 2022/23
ACTING / ALL LEVELS
- Each day of class is worth a total of 12 points. A weekly point score will be posted that will be valued up to 60 points. (Extra credit points are available.)
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION = 6 point PREPAREDNESS =3 point PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT= 3 point EXTRA CREDIT = 1 point
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION: Student takes a voluntary, thoughtful and active role in their own learning. They challenge themselves on a daily basis; demonstrating a desire to learn and to share ideas with their classmates and the teacher. They are willing to take risks during acting exercises and participate fully in games or scene work. They are willing to respectfully assert their own opinions and support them as well as listen respectfully to others and consider their opinions. They honor and complete their assigned classroom management task.
PREPAREDNESS: The student is prepared to contribute to class as a result of having thoughtfully completed and submitted assignments on time. The thoroughness of their work demonstrates the high regard they have for their own learning. Lines are learned for scene work and all scenes have prepared props and costumes for in-class performance. All handbags, backpacks, electronics and any other personal items remain in the assigned academy locker during class. The student is always prepared with the essential classroom tools of appropriate texts, notebooks, handouts, writing implements, props and costumes.
PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT: The student enters the classroom on time and is ready to work. They respect the "no gum" protocol. The student is a trustworthy scene partner and is trustworthy with their classroom peers. They never put other students down or engage in behavior that inhibits others from their own artisic growth. They remain attentive to the teacher; listen respectfully to their classmates and never "shout out" opinions or comments. The student follows all school rules without needing to be reminded and are alert and present during class. They DO NOT need to be reminded to stay on task, make the most of class time, stop side converstations or increase the level of commitment to the course. (Please see the student handbook for all MHS rules of conduct and protocol.)
EXTRA CREDIT: Students initiate meaningful discussions, ask significant questions and act as leaders within their groups. They volunteer to provide help on Academy shows and showcases.They participate in the fundraisers.
AUTOMATIC ZEROS-
- There will be NO GUM AT ANYTIME in the studio!!
- Disrespectful conduct toward another student, instructor or the ensemble.
- Phones. Phones may not be out, charging or on ring during classroom instruction unless being used with teacher permission.
NOTE: Atttendance is mandatory for all Academy productions. All students will be required to write an assessment of the performance based on writing rubrics.
