Memorial High School Performing Arts Academy

Commitment Contract

Acting

The Performing Arts Academy is characterized by excellence.  This is due to hard work, the high level of quality we expect, and the outstanding behavior and attitude necessary from the students.  Because of these high expectations, we are creating a tradition of honor and achievement in order to establish and maintain a state-wide reputation in the performing arts.

Each student is vital to the Academy’s success.  Each student in the program is extremely important and the group cannot function without the individual and the individual cannot function without the group.  The Academy is only as good as its weakest link.  If a part is missing, then it affects the whole scene, play or exercise.

To be an artist, actor or dancer requires commitment. It is a commitment to honor the talent, the excellence and the responsibilities of being a performer. It is a commitment to doing your best. It is a commitment to respect the work of the class and the project. It is a commitment to honor the responsibilities of schoolwork and rehearsal so that you can be your best.

These guidelines are set-up for the success of the group.  When everyone is working toward their own best, great things can occur for the group during the rehearsals or class efforts. When the rehearsals are successful, the performances are going to be outstanding. When the student is successful, great things can happen for the Academy.  Setting high expectations will get you very high results.  We all want to attain the very best we can.  In doing so, we will create an out of this world, top-notch ensemble and program.

 Guidelines

  •      Come to class and rehearsal ready to work!
  •      Be on time every time, which means- be ready to begin warming up at the start of each class.
  •      Have homework ready on its due date.
  •      Have your materials (props, costumes, dancewear) at every class, rehearsal and performance.
  •      Have a good attitude.  No one likes to be around people who constantly put others down.  We are a team, let’s help each            other.
  •      Learn your lines, music and choreography!  This means you will be required to practice outside class time.  If we want to            reach our goal and do exciting and challenging material,  get high grades, and succeed at festivals such as Teen Arts , we            have to spend time learning and working out our own parts.

  •      NO GUM or PHONES

  •      Be respectful of everyone.

  •      Respect the rules of the school.
  •      MANDATORY ATTENDANCE at ALL Academy Productions.
