Sparkle
I first came across the spelling game Sparkle, when I was doing a long term sub for a first grade teacher in Chester. I just loved how much the children enjoyed playing this game and how easy it was for them to learn how to spell.
The way we play is as follows; at the end of the day we usually have about 5 minutes before we leave for the buses. All the children hold hands and make a circle. I begin with the star student, lets say the word is out. The star student would say o, the next student u and the next t, then the next student would have to say sparkle- the next student sits. If a child does not know the letter or says the letter incorrectly that child sits as well. The winner is the last student standing !!! They just love it!!!
Here are some of the words we have learned!
