Reading

  • Write first name with left to right progression, capital letter first, and the rest lowercase (reversals of letters ok at this time)
  • Write with a Tripod Grip/Draw vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines, circles, triangles, humps, zigzags, wavy lines, spirals, loops, hooks, +, and x
  • Describe the role of an author and an illustrator
  • Identify characters, setting, details, and major events in a story read aloud
  • Identify environmental sounds, count the # of sounds heard, and identify whether sounds are the same or different
  • Segment spoken sentences into words-Clap or pull a block for each word in a sentence
  • Use prepositions: to, from, in, out, on, off, for, of, by, with; and use spatial words: there, here, in, on, in front of, behind, at the top of, at the bottom of, under, over, above, below, next to, in the middle of, near, far, inside, outside, around, between, up, down, high, low, left right, front, back
  • Begin letter recognition-flashcard practice

 

 

Math

  • Name colors- red, blue, yellow, green, purple, pink, brown, orange, white, gray
  • Name shapes- circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon, pentagon, octagon, rhombus/diamond, oval
  • Use Positional Words- above, below, over, under, beneath, left, right, beside, next to, top, middle, bottom, around
  • Patterns- Identify, copy, and extend AB, AAB, ABB, and ABC patterns
  • Classify/Sort objects- by color, size, shape, or kind
  • Count aloud to 30
  • Identify and write #'s 0 to 5
  • Count groups of objects up to 5 accurately using one-to-one correspondence
  • Subitize Up to 5- recognize, without counting, the number of objects in familiar arrangements (like on dice or a ten-frame)
