Neville High School - Room 514

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Periods

Welcome back Juniors.  It's great to see so many familiar faces, as well as new ones.  As you begin the second half of high school, some serious consideration must be given to your futures.  You have already made a big decision by enrolling in AP History.  You will have an opportunity to earn college credit at the end of the year when you take the Advanced Placement test.  You will also gain valuable experience in a fast-paced class that will prepare you for the rigors of college life.

This will be a challenging course with a lot of responsibility placed on you.  Though it is tough, it will pay dividends in the future when you face this type of demanding work as college students.  We will aim to have a multiple choice test every week to week-and-a-half.  Essay tests will occur about every two to three weeks.  As we get further into the course and in a good steady pace, we will see the document-based questions.  There will be reading every night.  Check the calendar if there is a question on what to read.  Quizzes will be thrown at you every so often.  Begin the year with a positive attitude and set the tone for a great year.

Missed tests and quizzes will need to be made up in a timely manner, according to school policy.  While homework assignments may be turned in for late grades, there will be a time limit on how late is allowed.  There is no extra credit work, so all grades must be earned in the present.

There is a LEAP 2025 test at the end of the year.  It is required for graduation to score at least Approcahing Basic.  However, the score converts into your final exam grade, accounting for 15% of your final average, so you want a high score to help keep or boost your final average.

Check out the AP website link to AP Central.  Lots of good information on the course and test prep.   The test this year is Friday May 10.  EVERY AP STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO TAKE THE AP EXAM.  YOU MUST TAKE THE EXAM TO RECEIVE AP CREDIT ON YOUR TRANSCRIPT.
