The "tic tac toe" bulletin board is available in our classroom at all times. You may also access the digital format by clicking on this link.
The assignments change each marking period to coordinate with the current curriculum. The activities range in level of difficulty, as well as skill and interest. Once per marking period, students may choose to complete
THREE assignments IN A ROW,
just like the game of "tic tac toe," and I will use the work in lieu of their lowest "larger assessment" grade.
Since students have the length of a marking period to complete the work, and I am using the work to replace a larger 100 point assignment, the work is expected to be completed in full, and done exceptionally by the given due date TBD per marking period, usually around the time of quarterlies. If less than 3 assignments are completed, or if 3 assignments are randomly completed out of order (not a complete tic tac toe), the work will NOT be accepted.
Students are encouraged to work on tic tac toe during free class time, like when they finish class work or tests early. Students may also work on their tic tac toe at home. Students are not permitted to work on this "extra" work during class at any other time, unless they are granted special permission. Tic tac toe is not to be confused with "extra credit." This is an alternate assignment and it is completely optional, but available for students who are struggling with a project, lab or who have a bad test day. All original work MUST be completed FIRST or a tic tac toe assignment will not be accepted. Tic tac toe will never be used to replace a zero, in an instance where no original work was completed or turned in.
