SMALL GROUP COUNSELING

According to the American School Counselor's Association, group counseling is an effective, efficient, and positive way to provide direct services to students to address their career, social, emotional, developmental, and situational concerns. By allowing students to develop insights into themselves and learn from others, group counseling makes it possible for students to achieve healthier personal adjustment, better coping skills, and effective communication skills.

Small group counseling is a service provided to all students.  Students may be invited to join a small group during the course of the school year.  A school counselor can cover many issues in small group counseling such as family change/divorce, grief, organization, etc. The groups I have offered most consistently are peer/social in nature.
