Atomic Theory Timeline Project
You will create a timeline of the historical development of the Atomic Theory. You will need two pictures for each scientist listed below. The first picture can be of the person or anything related to the scientist, while the second picture will be of the accepted pictorial of the atom at the time of the discovery and/or relate to the discovery.
Each of the following scientists and their contribution must be included:
- Democritus
- Robert Boyle
- Antoine Lavoisier
- John Dalton
- Sir JJ Thompson
- Robert Millikan
- Sir Earnest Rutherford
- Neils Bohr
- Sir James Chadwick
- Louis de Broglie
- Erwin Schrödinger
- Werner Heisenberg
You will need to include the following pictorial models of the atom and place each with the correct scientist:
- Indivisible, solid sphere model
- Electron cloud model
- Planetary or solar system model
- Plum (raisin) pudding model
- Rutherford’s nuclear model
- Be chronological in its sequence, with dates clearly shown
- Contains thorough pictures and/or explanations the significant contributions and experiments of those scientists and atomic models listed above.
- You may use any resource available to you including, but not limited to your textbook, class notes, class handouts/ppts, Internet, etc.
- Some recommended websites:
- Be neat, legible and eye appealing (use 3-5 colors)
- Size must be half a poster board
