My expectations for virtul learning are exactly the same as if we were in person, with a few exceptions.  Some points I want to highlight are:

1.  Be on time.  Our time is almost cut in half when compared to in person instruction.  You derserve all your "Rishiy time" and I want to see you for the full 57 minutes!

2.  Ask for help.  This is always the case, but more impornant now.  I am not with you in your home.  I cannot see you.  So when you are frustrated, sleepy, confused, lost...and all those other not so fun feelings...I cannot tell.  I can only go by what you share with me in the chat box or other venue.  YOU NEED TO let me know when you need help.

3.  Stretch.  I don't know about you but I NEVER sit for this long (you'll see when I am in the classroom...I never stop moving but I am like a ninja...and just pop up next to you).  Take a minute or two to stretch (please make sure if you do it in class your camera is off)!

4.  You are home and I cannot dictate what you do there but things like gum chewing and eating is kind of gross when you are on camera in my screen as I et a close up of that process.  Remember we can SEE you when the camera is on.  Be respectufl and shut the camera off.

5.  I always want to hear what you have to say or ask, but keep your microphone muted when you are not talking to me or the class directly.  All of us have families at home with us and they tend to be a bit louder than we like.

6. Try to control your space to the best of your ability.  It is so easy to listen to music or watch TV or even sleep when your camera is off as I have no idea what you are doing.  I know it is tempting, but that means you are missing all the stuff I am sharing with you.  Remove as many distractions as you can because your grade will suffer.

YOU are in control over your grade.  The grading policy has been altered so that we take into account that virtual learning is not the easiest or best way to learn biology.  With that said, the ammended schedule means you do not have to have your classes as long as they would normally be during the school year.  Don't mess up.  Make the remote learning cycles your HIGHEST achieving cycles!
