English, Language Arts consists of three major areas using the SAVVAS myPerspectives textbook/online platform:

- Writing - Narrative, Argumentative, Expository, Poetry, Journals, Research
- Vocabulary - using context clues to help build and develop our academic vocabulary
Assignments
- Homework - A 7th grade student never has no homework. Homework is to be completed the day it is assigned and will not be accepted late (unless a child is absent, then he/she has the same number of days to make up the missing assignment). Written homework in ELA may not be assigned daily, but students are expected to read 10-20 pages per night in their independent novel. Students should get into the habit of re-reading chapters of our class novels to study and review daily notes in preparation for discussions, quizzes, projects, and/or tests.
- Projects - Independent Projects are assigned occasionally. Guidelines and instructions for the projects are handed out in preparation. All projects MUST be submitted on time to received full credit; every day late results in a 10-point deduction. Group Projects may occasionally be assigned, but ALL group projects will be completed in school, unless part of the assignment requires independent work, then students will be given the opportunity to complete only the independent portion at home.
