What You Can Do to Help at Home:

--Students should practice sight words in a different order each time.  By doing so, they are not simply memorizing the order, they are truly recognizing the words themselves.  Review sight words with your child several times a week or every day.

--When you read to your child, or any time he/she looks at a book, challenge your child to pick out sight words.  Students can even look for sight words in their coloring books or video games!

--Make it fun!  A few suggestions:  play a matching game; hide-the-word-and-go-seek-it; or rainbow-write the words (using crayons, markers, etc., trace over each word in various colors).
