Class Trip
I wanted to let you know that due to renovations happening at our normal trip location (At the Bay) we will now visit Huber Woods (the permission trip you received). The trip is called "Fun with Nature" and the children will discover the wonders of nature during a guided walk and live animal show featuring some of the well-known animals of Monmouth County. The children will create a nature journal to record their exciting observations that day. We think this trip is very age appropriate and not too long. Since we are departing at 10AM, we are planning to have a full breakfast at 9AM. Please send in a bagged bagel breakfast or something like it, so your child is full and well fed until we return at approximately 1PM. At that point we plan on giving the children a snack time, so please send food and a drink for then as well. They will not be able to go the cafeteria to buy food. The children will wear their gym clothes on the day of the trip.
Grandparents Day
1. Please send in a large snack/light lunch. We will be eating in the classroom around 9:00 since it is a half day; therefore the cafeteria is closed.
2. There will be more information coming this week, but Grandparents/Grandfriends may take the children out of school early as long as you have filled out the permission form with their names. I am unsure if they are permitted to leave before 11:30, but that is something we will find out this week. The permission form was sent home via Instant Alert last week.
3. We have our scheduled Gym class on Friday at 11:00 so please be sure to let your child's grandparents know that at 10:55 we will head to Gym class with Mr. McCarthy and all of our classroom activities will end then. They are welcome to attend Gym.
4. If your child will not have a grandparent/grandfriend join us, please let me know so I can place them with a friend. There will be a group activity and I don't want any of the children feeling left out.
Open Court Reading: The program features the stories we read in the classroom and shortly, the stories the reading tests will be based on. There are also sound cards and games to learn the phonics skills as well as the grammar skills.
