Hello and Welcome to 1A!

I am looking forward to a wonderful year of new and exciting experiences with your child!  Here are some basic pieces of information for the first day of school.

Belongings and School Supplies:

Please send in all supplies on the first day. I have an abundance of large glue sticks so the children only need to bring in 3 for the time being. All student belongings should be labeled with their FIRST and LAST names. This includes folders, pencil cases, school fleeces, sweaters, lunch boxes, book bags, and snack bags.

Students also need an art smock. An old button down shirt or large tee shirt (that fits over their uniform shirt) works best. Don't forget to label that as well.

Silent Reading:

Students will have silent reading time every day. To encourage your child to become an avid reader, please pick a book with them to bring to school from home. I will remind the children to take home their book each week and replace with a new one.  We also have a class library that they may choose from should they forget a book or finish the one they have.

Dismissal:

For the first day of school please send a note stating your child's dismissal procedure. It is imperative that we know this information so things can run as smoothly as possible.

Please write your child’s normal dismissal method inside their red folder (for those of you that ordered supplies, we will send home the red folder as the "Take Home" folder) on the inner left hand side.  If they will be a bus rider, please tape a copy of their bus pass inside of the folder. If they will be a car rider, please write that in their folder.  If your dismissal method alternates, please write that as well.  For example: Bus rider M/W/F, Car rider T/TH.  Please send in a note if there is a change of dismissal. Also, we ask that you do not email dismissal changes as they may not be seen until after school ends. Please call the main office asap if you are aware of a change once school begins for the day.

Food:

9/3 Please provide a lunch for your child as the cafeteria is not open on half days. We only eat one time on half days (usually at 9:30) so you may pack a traditional lunch or a healthy, large snack.

Starting Wednesday 9/4 your child will need a lunch plus a snack and water (for the afternoon) packed in a separate bag. Remember to put their name on that as well. We eat lunch at 10:40 in the cafeteria and snack around 1:30 PM in the classroom.  Please be aware that we may have children with serious nut allergies in our class, and must follow school policy. Therefore, please refrain from sending in any foods that contain nuts for the afternoon snack time.

Please note that our cafeteria is cashless which means all ordering is done online. Please check the school website for more information.

Picture:

Please send in TWO 4x6 or 3x5  pictures of your child. 5x7 is okay too. They can be the same picture or different.  We will use these pictures for the school year for two of our Bulletin Boards.

I will have more information for you in the days to come.  If you have any questions or concerns about anything please contact me.  I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your child!
