BANANA SPLITS
At Brigantine North Middle School we have formed a peer support group for students who have had changes in their family structure or who have lost a parent through divorce or death. The BANANA SPLITS program originated in 1979 in a single school and is now used in many states. It offers peer support with others who share feelings of loss and change by helping students regain a feeling of stability. Together, the students confront and learn to live with the crisis of death, divorce, or remarriage. The students participate only when they feel comfortable.
BANANA SPLITS will be an ongoing group meeting weekly during lunch period. Students can sign up or be referred into the group by a parent, staff member or a peer. After an initial visit, parental permission is required. Students may attend weekly, or drop-in as needed.
Please feel free to call with any questions about the program.
