 2025-26 School Year 

 

My philosopy - to introduce and promote students to many different sports and physical fitness activities and have them discover their interest so they may continue throughout their adult live.  The PE program, with its many different sports & fitness activities will also introduce the 5 Components of Physical Fitness: These components will be addressed throughout the year: These components of physical fitness are often used to gauge what shape we are truly in and instrumental in improving our physical health. The 5 components that make up total fitness are:

 

Cardiovascular Endurance
Muscular Strength
Muscular Endurance
Flexibility
Body Composition

 Fall Activities 

 

 Hillside Cross Country -  Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

Starting Wednesday, September 24th running thur November 20th.  This after school activity is a minimum of 7 weeks designed to introduce distance running to students of the 5th & 6th grade.  The runners will learn how to run with good form, pace themselves, good nutrition, the importance of warm-up and cool downs.  The runners will build speed and endurance through continued drills & running games.  There will be 2 meets against Eisenhower.  One meet will be at Hillside and the other will be at Eisenhower.  More information will follow as the program starts.  It is encouraged that your child attend at least 2 days per week and not miss so they are familiar with the Hillside course and know the basics of the program. 

 

 

Flag Football: Fridays

Starting Friday, September 26th running for 4 weeks; 9/26, 10/3, 10/10 & 10/17

This after school activity will focus on developing and improving throwing, catching and dodging skills while enjoying fast moving, competitive and age appropriate, non contact games of high energy flag football.  Students of all ability levels are welcome.  It is recommended that your child wear loose comfortable clothing, and mandatory for them to wear sneakers. 

 

 Dodgeball I:  Mondays

 Starting Monday, November 3rd  running for 4 weeks; 11/3, 11/10, 11/17 & 11/24

 Hillside Volleyball: Tuesday & Thursday

 Online registration link:  

 Starting on Tuesday, January 27th through March 12th.  A competition against Eisenhower will be scheduled at Eisenhower.  More information will be posted closer to the date.  However, it is usually the last Tuesday of the program.
