Dear Parents,

Here you will find all classroom expectations and policies. Please know that students are taught and tested on these. I hope this serves to help you as parents know how the dynamic of our class works. Students may also use it to review prior to being tested.

- Be Respectful

- Be Responsible

- Be Ready

Teacher Norms and Expectations:

  • Be Ready. Complete your work and follow ALLdirections the first time they are given.

  • Be and ACT responsible. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

  • Be prepared for class.

  • Have RESPECTfor classmates and teacher. No name calling or back talking please.

2b. Grab assigned computer and complete Bellringer for the day (6th graders).

3. Sit quietly until BR discussion begins.

4.Be ready to participate.

Bell Ringer (La Campanada) and Angenda:

  1. Daily Agenda:

Coming into class you will find it to the right of the class objectives. These are expected to be copied daily in your planner (6th gradrers). This should be completed BEFORE starting your Bell ringer/ Campanada.

2) LA CAMPANADA/ Bell Ringer:

Coming into class this assignment will be projected on the panel and should be completed in your Campanada/Bellringer Sheets daily. ABSENT??? No problem, all work is posted in Google Classroom for your benefit.

IMPORTANT:

  1. Bellringers are usually a quick review of what it has been learned OR for 6th graders, puzzles to solve (Word Search, Sudoku, etc)

  2. Make sure to always include:

  • the date (for Spanish classes EN ESPAÑOL)

  • the answers to each question (make sure to number them adequately)

Campanada/Bellringer Grade:

  • Spanish Classes will turn in their work every 3-4 weeks depending on the length of the month. Each day completed is worth 2 points for a total of 10 points per week (32-40 points per month).

  • 6th grade classes will turn in their work at he end of the month. Each puzzle is worth 5 points for a total of 25 points per week.

NOTE:  It is the student’s responsibility to complete this work daily. If you are absent, you can access your bellringer AND work through GC.

Tardies-

A student is considered tardy to class if the student is not seated when the tardy bell rings. Three tardies to any classes results in detention. This is school policy.

Absences-

A student may not exceed 10 unexcused absences to pass each class. Any studet that does will be in danger of failing the school year.

Turning in Assignments-

Location: It is found by the white shelves on the left-hand side of the classroom.

I am strict about the heading on students papers; please make sure all of papers/assignments include:

a. student name,

b. date,

c. grade/hour

d. and my title, señora David/Mrs. David.

Policy:

Your heading is worth 3-4 points and its included in EVERY assessment/assignment. Make sure it is written before turning it in. This is for both paper work as well as electronic work.

Tardy work:
Once the work is considered “tardy” (AKA you turned in past the due date) you will lose 5% of your grade per day it is tardy.

Cheating/Academic Dishonesty:
  • Copying another student’s homework is considered cheating. Both the copier and the person who loans the work will earn zeros and will be written up (Academic Dishonesty).

  • Although it is a no brainer, copying during Assessments (test/quizzes), the policy

will be the same.

Bathroom & Water Policy-

If a student needs to use the restroom or drink water, the student may go provided that he/she is working on independent or cooperative group assignments. DO NOT interrupt instructional time.

  1.  The student must quietly sign themselves out writing name, hour, destination, time out and time back in.

  2.  Students are only permitted to use the bathrooms located at the end of the 200 hall. The same procedure is followed for water or when going to the office.

***If leaving class becomes a disruption to the student's educational progress, the teacher will meet with the student to develop a more effective system. If needed, the teacher will contact parents and/or administration for additional assistance.

NOTE: If the student has a MEDICAL issue, the policy will be amended to meet the student needs.

 Dress Code-

Our classroom adheres to the school and parish school uniform policy. This includes shirts tucked in, belt worn, and allowed jackets or pullovers.

When the teacher is not sure if the student's attire follows the school uniform dress policy, the teacher will complete a dress code violation, so that administration can determine if the student is in compliance.
Cellphone Ppolicy-
Cell phones are NEVER permitted on campus. If a student is caught with a cell phone, the phone is taken from the student and it is turned into the office without exception.
Guests:

At times, we may have guests in our class. This includes substitute teachers, guest speakers or school and/or school board admin.  Students are to follow all school and classroom expectations when guests are in our classroom.

Unauthorized guests, including students from WHS, are not permitted in class without the consent of the school administrative staff.
Eating in class:

Eating and drinking are not permitted in class.

This includes gum, pen caps and straws. Incident will result in detention

No outside containers other than water bottles are permitted in the classroom, unless the student has direct permission from administration.

GRADING SCALE:

93% - 100%A

85%- 92%B

75% - 84%C

67% - 74%D

0%-66% F

Starting in Junior High, grades are weighted as follows:

Major and Minor Assessments (MMA)       80%  (This includes Projects, Test, Quizzes)

Participation Points (PC)                         10%  (Bellringers, Workbook pages, Exit Tickets and Test Knowledge (GC) )

CLASS DISMISSAL:

WHEN THE DISMISSAL BELL RINGS …

I, the teacher, dismiss the class, not the bell. The bell is for the teachers; when the bell rings, remain in your seat until I call your row to exit the class.

Clean Up/Pack Up: You will have plenty of time to clean and pack up your belongings. I will tell you when it is time to stop working.

I will not dismiss the class until ALL students are seated and ALL work areas are clean and disinfected, similar to the way they were when you entered class.
