Mrs. Snider Important Information 2022 -2023
General:
All school rules apply in our classroom…both in school and in our virtual classroom.
This especially includes, but is not limited to:
- being on time for class
- being prepared for class
- having no food, drinks, gum, or candy
- demonstrating appropriate behavior (behavior that contributes to class!)!
Remember: Treat others the way you want to be treated!
Homework:
1. …is meant to give you a chance to explore and/or strengthen your understanding of classroom topics…be creative and inquisitive!
2. Do not worry about being “wrong” (if you already knew everything you’d be in 8th grade ; )
3. Homework will be given regularly, but will not always involve written work – it should still be taken seriously and completed on time.
4.Homework is due the next class period (unless noted otherwise) and will not be accepted late.
5. “I didn’t understand it” is NOT an acceptable excuse for not doing, or completing an assignment. Please believe me. I am not kidding. Try to look over your assignment before you leave class OR reach out via email/google classroom and ask questions. You MUST give it a try and – this is the key – I must see WRITTEN evidence of your attempt (see #2 & #6)!
6. Use each other as resources – BUT NOT XEROX MACHINES (this will not be tolerated – both parties will receive a 0)! I will make sure that you can get in touch with classmates for ?s.
Finally, if you are absent, it is your responsibility to reach out to ME about your missed work. Make up work must be completed in a reasonable amount of time (certainly before the chapter or unit is complete).

Journals:
Each marking period we will keep/have an ongoing assignment that for the sake of ease I am here calling a “journal”. It may not be a journal per se. We will speak about the details each marking period, but all entry or assignments will be assessed individually as follows and a grade will be earned as a whole for completion of each piece.
Nature of entry/assignment …is it relevant to what we are studying?or
…does it relate to science and it is timely in your life?
Quality of entry …did you express yourself clearly? and
…have you used appropriate language and vocabulary?and
…have you made observations, hypotheses, predictions or theories?
Communication:
STUDENTS SHOULD BE CHECKING EMAIL TWICE/DAY (once before and once after school is my recommendation). Also check google classroom at least once a week (or if anything big/long term is going on).
Reach out as often (and whenever) you have a question! BUT…if you email or message me you are required to follow up! I will likely respond fairly quickly – it is your responsibility to look for and act on that response.
I will be offline as of 8pm - this means if you email/message me AFTER 8pm, expect that I will not see your message until 8am the next morning.
E.C.
…will not be given to boost careless grades.
Extra Help:
…is available at lunch, before school or after school as needed...do not hesitate to reach out – we will figure out a time that works! Please do not let a concern or question wait!!!
Gradebook:
All graded assignments will be visible in the gradebook as soon as they are graded. Quizzes and tests usually take a day or two. Labs and projects take slightly longer. Please be patient, but feel free to call or email if you have any questions. PLEASE NOTE: Google is not a teacher!!! All assigments will be read by ME. Final grades will be in PowerSchool (not Google Classroom).
You will be receiving a copy of this in class that you will be required to sign and return.
