Classroom Behavior Management Plan
Social/emotional well-being is an important part of your child’s success in school. To promote a positive learning environment, I will implement “The Power to Choose” plan as the center of our behavior management system.
This plan encourages students to feel a sense of belonging to the classroom community. Instead of rules, the students will commit to making good choices each day. Our classroom Good Choices follow our school-wide Pelican Pledge to be respectful, to be safe, and to be responsible problem-solvers.
To help the children understand the behavior expectations, we will discuss what is each good choice means, and we will review these daily. Please be sure to review these with your child at home.
We will recite a Class Pledge each day as follows, “I promise to make good choices. I will be kind. I will be respectful. I will be responsible. I will be a problem solver. I will be safe. I will do my best work.”
GOOD CHOICES:
- Be kind.
- Be respectful.
- Be responsible.
- Be a problem solver.
- Be safe.
- Do my best work.
REWARDS:
*Verbal praise
*Stickers/certificates
*Happy Notes J
*Treats
*PBS Tickets/Prizes
CONSEQUENCES:
*Reminder (1st check in teacher’s book)
*Stop and Think (2nd check in book – talk with teacher)
*Note/phone call to parent (3rd check in book – time out)
*Parent Conference (4th check in book – time out)
*Severe behaviors - Referral to Assistant Principal
I will use a chart to track student behavior daily.
- All students will begin the day with zero check marks for behavior.
- If a student breaks his/her commitment to good choices, check marks will be recorded throughout the day.
- Parent contact will be made by note home or phone call for students who continue to break their good choice commitments.
When exhibiting behavior that follows our Good Choices and the Pelican Pledge, students will be awarded pelican tickets. The pelican tickets will be counted at the end of the month to turn in for rewards and prizes. The more tickets earned, the more rewards and prizes earned! Let’s be our BEST!
Thanks so much for your cooperation,
Mrs. Chapman J
