Classroom Goals
I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with your child. My goal is for the children in my class to achieve their potential and to enjoy learning. It is important for them to have a positive attitude and put forth their best effort! Having a love for reading is very important for each child. I will really stress that your child read each day in class during silent reading time, as well as at home. Make sure they turn in their 80 minute a week Reading Log each Tuesday. This is worth three points of their grade each week. Each nine weeks we will have a contest to see how many Accelerated Reading Tests each student can pass. Students are to read at their own level. If they do not pass any tests they will be given a book report to encourage them to look for details while they are reading. Your child's book level is in the front of their assignment book. Your child's math facts should also be studied each night. Thanks for all your help at home so that your child can be the best they can!!
Home Work Guidelines
Homework policy: Homework will be given almost every night except Fridays. One night a week the reading book will need to be signed by a parent. This is usually on Monday. Spelling words should be practiced regularly throughout the week. Please refer to your child’s assignment book. Make sure you sign your name or initials each night to show you have checked it. Filling in the assignment book is your child’s responsibility.
