Who is Ms. Corley?

Although there is no simple answer to that question, I can tell you that without a doubt I am a dedicated educator who is passionate about what I feel is my purpose in life. With a MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction (reading cognate) and 26 years teaching experience in the primary grades, I have the desire to provide all students with an excellent education!

My teaching career has been focused toward the empowerment of primary and early elementary age children. I have a strong passion for literacy education, and believe that children should be taught in a differentiated, exciting environment. Throughout the course of my career, I have had wonderful opportunities to teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, those performing at grade level, and those who have been identified as gifted/exceptional.  In the classroom, I actively engage students’ minds by providing anchors for them to link background knowledge to new concepts.

My other areas of expertise includeI the process of Response to Intervention, knowledge of Section 504, IAPs/IEPs, and the referral process.  As chairperson of a previous school’s Building Level Committee, I regularly met with parents and qualified personnel to determine appropriate modifications as well as tracked students’ achievement through analysis of progress monitoring. Outside of school, I serve in music ministry at my church, Zachary United Methodist. I have an adult daughter, a grandson, soon to be granddaughter, and a 12-year old “son”, a miniature Yorkie named Toby.

My expectations of your child are high, and we should hold each other to equally high standards. I promise to give your child 100 percent of me, every day this year.  A healthy home-school relationship is critical to your child’s successful school experience. Feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have at any time. My school email is [email protected], and I am able to check it in the morning before school and in the afternoon before dismissal. If you need to get a message to school that is of an urgent nature, please call the school office and they will make sure I receive it right away.

I look forward to an exciting and rewarding school year!
