WELCOME TO OUR ONLINE CLASS ROOM!

We will be using this website as the main communication center for our lessons. I will be posting the agenda and assignment information here. You will also need to use your O365 account to access Teams to complete assignments and turn them in. You will use the same login you use in Science class. There is a link on the school board site (lpsb.org) to the login page. It is very easy to use and works like the other programs in O365. You are welcome to dive in and get started on your first assignment now or you can view the tutorial video Mrs. Foy created on to help you navigate it. (Coach Genre also created a print version if you prefer that.) It's going to take some time to work out the kinks so please be patient with me and yourself! We'll get there!

Tips for Making Online Learning Successful

1. Create a designated work space.

-just like an assigned desk, students need an assigned space to do their work

-have all supplies (textbooks, notebooks, pencils, etc) close by

-limit distractions (don't isolate them but keep tvs, siblings, etc quiet during work time)

2. Have a schedule.

-create a schedule for when students should be working

-20-30 minutes of work and then a short break is best

-have a timer handy so they can pace themselves (we do this in class a lot!)

3. Work every day.

-just like school, student should work online every day

-assignments that are given several days to complete are set that way because it can't be done in one session

4. Get outside.

-make sure students spend time outside and away from the screens, this is especially important through all this

-Solar power doesn't just work on calculators!

5. SET CLEAR EXPECTATIONS

-this is the most important thing you need to do, students need to know exactly what they are to do each day/session

-set consequences/rewards for completing school work and doing a good job

-a good idea would be no "fun screen time" until school work is finished.

6. BE POSITIVE

-okay, this really is the most important thing you can do!

-students will respond to your atittude about this, if you are positive they will be too

-This really is an opporutnity to use skills (time management, online communications, etc) they will use later in life

Thank you for giving us time to work this out and your support though this transition. I truly believe this will be a positive experience for the kids and impact the way we teach in the future. Wash your hands, stay home and stay well!

Love y'all,

Mrs. Fabre
