Requirements and Information

 

  1. Physical Education Grading Procedures:
    1. The Students grades are based on the following:

                             33% Participation:  All students are expected to participate in class activities.

                             33% Preparation: All students must have on sneakers and NO bulky jewelry.

                             34% Sportsmanship: It is important that all students are courteous, and respectful to others on and off the field of competition.

  1. Health Grading Procedures:
    1. The Students grades are based on the following:

                            25% Participation

                            25% Behavior

                            20% Classwork

                            20% Group work

                            10% Other(Homework, quizzes, etc.)

  1. Clothing:

     A. Shirt, shorts or pants, socks, and sneakers are appropriate for activity inside

          and outside as well as meet the school dress code.

  1. This clothing can be worn to school for gym activities.  Changing of

      clothes is not required and will not be permitted due to the lack of

      facilities for changing.

  1. Do Not wear or bring valuables (Jewelry, wallets, purses, money, etc) to the gym.
    1. 50 yard dash (Measures Speed)
    2. Sit Ups (Measures Abdominal Strength & Endurance)
    3. Flexed Arm Hang (Measures Upper Body Strength)
    4. Shuttle Run (Measures Agility)
    5. Standing broad Jump (Measures Explosive Power)
    6. Sit and Reach (Measures Trunk Flexibility)
    7. **Distance Run (Measures Aerobic Endurance)
  1. Physical Fitness Testing:
    1. There are 7 separate physical tests that will be administered at two different times during the school year to determine an individual’s fitness level.  They are as follows:

**The distance run is 1 mile and is to be completed in less than 20 minutes.  Any student that fails to complete the Mile Run in less than 20 minutes will receive nothing higher than a N (needs improvement) on the next issued student report.

  1. Gym Excuses:
    1. To be excused from physical education class, a note from home or the doctor’s office must first be presented to the school nurse who will then write a note of excuse from physical activity.  If a student becomes ill or injured during the school day, the nurse may excuse him or her from gym.  Please note that students excused from physical activity may be issued an alternative writing assignment to complete for a grade.
