The ACT Science section is a 35-minute, 40-question test (optional as of July 2024) that evaluates data interpretation, analysis, and reasoning skills, rather than in-depth scientific knowledge. It covers biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth/space sciences through 6–7 passages, typically focusing on charts and graphs, research summaries, and conflicting viewpoints.
Key Aspects of the ACT Science Section
- Format: 6-7 passages with 5-8 questions each.
- Structure:
- Data Representation (30–40%): Interpreting charts, graphs, and diagrams.
