Mrs. Sharma’s Classroom Procedures
Transitioning from whole group to small group instruction:
Mrs. Sharma will assign the small groups. Students are to silently take their materials to the assigned area and work with the assigned group. You are expected to work with everyone you are assigned respectfully and purposefully.
Administration of Assessments: (Celebrations of your knowledge):
“Celebrations”, quizzes and tests, are scheduled periodically. They are not the same as your neighbors, so please keep your eyes on your own paper.
Restroom request:
To lessen interruption of the lesson, students are asked to raise their THUMB to request to use the restroom. When the teacher responds that you can use the restroom, please completely fill out a pass and wait near the back for Mrs. Sharma to initial it.
Getting the whole class’s attention:
Mrs. Sharma will raise her hand or ask for everyone’s attention. Please raise your hand so that others will understand that teacher needs everyone’s attention.
When students ask or answer questions:
Please raise your hand to ask or answer a question. Do not “shout out” the answer. When another student is asking or answering a question, please show respect by remaining silent.
When a visitor enters classroom:
Students are to remain on task when a visitor (Administration, other students, teachers) enters the classroom. Do not shout out to that person or interrupt instruction in progress. All visitors will be treated with respect.
Sharpening pencils:
Do not interrupt instruction to sharpen your pencil. Raise your thumb (as you do to use the restroom) and when you are acknowledged, simply go to the rear of the room and sharpen your pencil.
Coming into the classroom:
Please come into the classroom quietly, sit down at your assigned seat and immediately start your work. Do not run around the classroom or socialize during work time. You are also not to linger in the hall before the bell.
