What is PIRT?

My role as Preschool Intervention & Referral Team (PIRT) member is to provide support, suggest strategies and interventions to preschool staff so all children can be successful in a regular classroom. I provide supports that address various areas of learning such as behavioral, social emotional, motor skills, and/or language.  I rely on  observations, interviews, ongoing records, screenings and other informal assessments to collect data and come up with a plan that I can use to monitor student progress. If  we conclude that a student is not be progressing then I recommend  to parents that a referral to CST is necessary.

What is a RFA?

A Reguest For Assistance (RFA) simply means that the teacher is requesting assistance in writing by filing out a form listing the areas of concerns.  The Request for Assistance is usually discussed with the parents and both teacher and parent both agree that  interventions are necessary to help the student be more successful in the classroom.

What is a PIRT Plan?

A PIRT plan are the interventions and strategies that the teacher is expected to implement consistently for 6 weeks in order to see change in behavior or growth in the specific area of development.
