Course Syllabus:  Math 8                                                                    Teacher: Mr. Lehman

Course Objectives:  

The unit design was created in line with the areas of focus for grade 8 Mathematics as identified by the Common Core State Standards and the PARCC Model Content Frameworks. Each unit is comprised of standards that are considered major content along with standards identified as supporting and/or additional content.  

 

New Jersey Common Core/New Jersey Student Learning Standards: 

• 8.NS:  The Number System

• 8.F: Functions

• 8.EE: Expressions and Inequalities

• 8.G: Geometry

• 8.SP: Statistics and Probability

Concepts that will be covered:

• Explore the Real Numbers, Integers and Rational Numbers

• Analyze and Solve Equations

• Use Functions to Model Relationships

• Investigate Bivariate Data

• Analyze and Solve Systems of Linear Equations

• Congruence and Similarity

• Understand and Apply the Pythagorean Theorem

• Solve Problems Involving Surface Area and Volume
