Weekly Music Journal Writing
Each week, 3-6th graders are assigned a constructed response to a music related prompt.
Grading rubric: S-N-U. S- Students wrote their name and date/At least two sentences written, N- Just the student's name and one sentence is written. U- No name/no sentences written)
Week 2 (August 18-22, 2025)
Many rappers and singers talk about real life in their songs. What issues or stories do you hear in music? What would you want to say in your own song?
Week 3 (August 25-29, 2025)
Write about your favorite song and why it makes you feel good? If you don't have a favorite song, why?
Week 4 (September 1-5, 2025)
Do you think music makes people behave a certain way, good or bad? Explain your answer.
Week 5 (September 8-12, 2025)
Last week, a popular rapper was seen on the streets of LA selling her CDs. Do you have any music CDs? How do you listen to music?
Week 6 (September 15-19,2025)
Who is your favorite music artist? Why?
Week 7 (September 22-26, 2025)
What is your favorite part of Carroll High School Band? The music? Uniforms? Dancers? The Drumline? Explain why this part interests you.
Week 8 (September 29-October 3, 2025)
What type of headphones do you prefer- earbuds or headphones? Wired or wireless? Which delivers better sound quality for your music?
Week 9 (October 6-10, 2025)
What music do your parents listen to? Do you like it? Do you think they should listen to the music of your generation instead? Explain.
