Mr. Wright is a native of Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1996. After high school, he enrolled at Northeast Louisiana University in Physical Education. During his freshman year, he trained with the NLU Track & Field Team. In the Spring of 1997, he dropped out and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
He attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California in the summer of 1997. He later was attached to the 3rd Battalion 1st Marines India Company, a unit he remained with until he was honorably discharged in 2001. During his time in the Marines, he made two overseas deployments and visited Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bahrain, Seychelles, Phuket, and Darwin, Australia. He participated in a humanitarian operation with the United Nations in Indonesia and was a security detail enlisted officer aboard the USS Cole in 2000 during the investigation of the terror attack in the Gulf of Aden, Yemen.
After the Marines, Mr. Wright began a photography business that has operated in Monroe, Shreveport, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In Chicago, he attended the Harrington College of Design where he majored in digital photography. He has been the school photographer for over seven high schools across the country and is the official photographer for Grambling State University's Favrot Student Union. His work has appeared in the JET and EBONY magazines and on the cover of Monroe, LA's Bell South telephone book in 2010. He has been the photographer and designer of Grambling State University's annual Miss Cover girl calendar since 2006.
Mr. Wright was a Hollywood actor and has appeared on dozens of television shows and movies including: Scandal, Criminal Minds, Revenge, Two Broke Girls, Bones, Zoo, and Franklin and Bash. He was a featured background actor int he Lifetime movie "The Hunt for the Labyrinth Killer" starring Michael Nouri and in an episode of NCIS: New Orleans starring CCH Pounder. He received acting training at the Speiser/Sturges Acting Studio in Los Angeles, California.
He received his Bachor of Arts degree in History from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2012. He taught as a middle school social studies teacher at Excellence Academy Charter School in Monroe from 2013-2015. He taught World Geography at Lake Area New Tech Early College High School in New Orleans during the 2015-2016 school year. He was an American History and Western Civilization guest lecturer at the University of Louisiana at Monroe during the Spring 2017 semester. He is currently the 5th grade social studies teacher at Minnie Ruffin Elementary School.
Mr. Wright is a member of the Eta Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he serves as Director of Intake. He is also a member of the Monroe Rotary Club and the American Legion Post 13. An accomplished musician and singer, he is the Minister of Music at New Light Baptist Church and is the Saturday evening entertainer at Copeland's of New Orleans Restaurant in Monroe, LA.
