About the Teacher
Mr. Wright brings over 40 years of musical expertiese and a decade of teaching excellence to Roy Neal Shelling Elementary School. With a Master of Arts in History from the University of Louisiana Monroe and extensive classroom experience spanning elementary through university levels, Mr. Wright was recognized as Teacher of the Year at Bastrop Junior High School in 2020 and received the Excellence in Education Award from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Omicron Iota Omega Chapter- CAMEO Awards March 2021.
His musical foundation began with piano training at the age of seven and Hammond Organ at the age of ten. Over 24 years, he has served as church musician across multiple congregations, directing choirs and organizing music programs. Mr. Wright has recorded four albums at Music City Studios and currently performs as the house singer at Bayou DeSiard Country Club and the Hotel Monroe. From 2010-2012, he operated Wright's School of Music, teaching piano theory and performance to students aged 6-15 while organizing annual recitals.
Mr. Wright's unique combination of classroom teaching experience, musical performance expertise, and proven ability to work with elementary students positions him to create an engaging, supportive music program that helps young learners discover their musical talents.
