Welcome to Speech and Language
with Miss Fierro!
First, I would like to tell you all a little bit about myself. I am no stranger to the Ogdensburg School, as I am a former graduate and this is my Alma Mater and I have now been working here as the Speech Language Pathologist for FIVE years! And what a wondering five years it has been! Before working at the Odgensburg School I worked for an agency and treated children from preschool to high school age. I attended Pope John High School. I am a graduate of Marywood University where I received my undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
During speech sessions the students will be working diligently to accomplish their speech and language goals. Students are seen individually or in small groups. All of my speech sessions are run in a relaxed manner to ensure that all my students feel comfortable working and being themselves. It is important for students to feel comfortable during speech time so they are inclined to talk and converse as much as possible, so goals can be addressed and met. I enjoy utilizing games and activities to incorporate fun into speech. At times it is also beneficial to use schoolwork/homework during sessions, so speech goals can be applied as functional as possible.
So far, this year has been off to a great start, and I hope you all feel the same!
