NEXTGEN Science Standards Implementation 

As of September 2016 the Northfield Community School will transition to NextGen Science standards as per the NJDOE. This will cause us to integrate the sciences versus keeping them departmentalized. As of now we do Earth Science in 5th, Life in 6th, Physics in 7th and 8th. Each grade will see all of the sciences each year. They will go more in depth and scaffold the concepts. 

 

Beginning September 2017

Grades K through 2 will utilize Mystery Science materials to implement the Next Gen Standards.

Grades 3 & 4 will utilize grade level created units and Next Gen supplemental materials as well as Mystery Science.

Grades 5 through 8 will utilize FOSS Next Gen Science materials. 

 

Some grades will supplement with IXL and Freckle as well as current scientific topics or events that arise.
