PGMS Library Rules
Students are welcome and encouraged to come to the library, and there are many opportunities for visits throughout the school year.
Please bring your Chromebook with you when you come to the library. This will allow you to search the Destiny Library Catalog.
1. Visiting the library:
You must have your passport agenda card to come to the library during the school day. It must be signed by the teacher or other staff member who has you on his or her roster for that period. Please do not come to the library during period transition times.
If the library is closed OR if the librarian is either not there or is teaching a class you should return to the classroom.
When arriving at the library, students must show the pass to the librarian and then sign in. Sign-in sheets are on the clipboard that is on the red metal cart near the front door of the library.
You may come to the library after school. It is open most days unless there is a teacher meeting. If you come after school, you must sign in.
2. Keep your cell phone off and put away.
3. Keep the library quiet.
4. Respect school property and the physical space of others.
5. Unless there is an emergency, exit the library through the main door by the circulation desk.
6. Book Check out:
You may check out 2 books for 3 weeks at a time. All books checked out except for graphic books (like Diary of a Wimpy Kid) can be renewed for an additional 3 weeks. Graphic books cannot be renewed because other students may be waiting to check them out. If you have overdue books you cannot check out anything else until they are returned or you have paid for them. PLEASE be a caring and responsible person and return the books so that others have a chance to read them. If there is a problem, please speak to the librarian.
7. Book return:
You do not need to visit the library as a class to return your book. Please return it by or before the due date so that others may check it out. You can hand it to the librarian if you are passing by the library. If the library is closed, please ask in the office if you can leave it in Ms. Barton's mailbox.
