Spanish requires the use of accents to help the reader know how to pronounce the word. Forgetting an accent can change the word's meaning. In class, we will utilize the symbols below:

 

 

á, é, í, ó, ú, ü, ñ, ¿, ¡, Á, É, Í, Ó, Ú, «, »

 

 

Option 1: Students can enable the International Keyboard on a Chromebook in order to use keyboard shortcuts for accents on words. 

**Please note that the US keyboard will need to be enabled again when testing in DRC
The International keyboard will not work when in a DRC test.

After you've enabled the US International Keyboard, you will be able to click "INTL" or "US" next to the clock in the bottom right to change the keyboards easily.

 

 

How to Type Accents using the US International Keyboard:

Be sure you see INTL at the bottom right next to the time on your Chromebook.

 

To access the accents hold the right ALT while typing a,e,i,o,u,n,?,!

 

Shift will make the letters capital

Option 2: In Google Slides & Google Docs, you can add accents by following the steps below.

 

 

  1. Click “Insert”

  2. Click “Special Characters”

  3. Change to “Latin” or “Punctuation”

  4. If you can’t find it, search it!
